“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” - Frederick Buechner, Wishful Thinking: A Theological ABC
The history of the First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston began in 1908 when 25 members of the First Presbyterian Church of Charleston formed the Southside Mission.
Looking back at nearly a century of mission work, we think the 25 charter members of the Southside Mission would be pleased with our effort, intent, perseverance and creativity. Our support makes an impact in people's lives, locally and also far around the world, in African, Haitian and other third-world countries.
We're thrilled to announce that we've made it easier to support the many (more than 20!) community programs, regardless of where you are in the world. From near or far, you can make sure your precious financial resources are supporting people you know and trust doing important work in our local, regional, national and global communities.
From feeding the hungry on our doorstep to clothing children and families in need to delivering medicine, supplies and educational materials to our friends in Fort Liberte, Haiti, your financial support allows us to continue being just where God wants and needs us to be.
